heartbeat

a collection of poems

South China Sea

23/4/2011

eyes burn as the engines, lanterns, heat and loss
all search for my two hearts in the night above Kowloon

Asynchronicity

18/4/2011

ginger pixels of flavour and sugar
all work together as consummate dancers
and cherry-pick the neurons to titillate

never to miss any point of existence
is my asynchronous vow
to the fleeting god of otherness and speed

and my prayer is for infinite balance
as the stage lights fade in.

Perfection

18/4/2011

the thought of a father sipping coffee
on the night courage nearly deserted me

Tropic of Cancer

17/4/2011

when roofs are conceived and constructed
to fend off sheets of light

reverberations of heat

waves of staleness

and it rains

the spectacle is divine

crashing at wrong angles

the droplets fan open

dance off, spin down, twist out

the flow of traffic and drills

stands still and in awe

of a thousand sacred drummers

announcing the arrival of change

Pacifico

17/4/2011

puoi stare a guardare
per un tempo più lungo
di tutti gli attimi
che ti ci hanno portato

e intanto si secca la pelle
prurito profondo
sei buono a vedere, soltanto a guardare
ma a scegliere no

raccogli conchiglie
e pensi alle foglie
di quella magnolia, del salice
l'ombra delle case e a questa che

non so se potrà
se vorrò, se vorrà

verso fuori, non vedo altro
ma dentro ancora di Pacifico non c'è nulla

Oversize baggage

12/4/2011

This city feeds its sap
through rivets and bolts
and if we could display our love
pagodas known to us would tell
when paper was expensive
no lesser thoughts would soil it
but now I spend my steps
with humble hardship dwellers :

I commit questions to parchment
but cannot yet lighten my tread.

I have always believed
in this orange part of the morning.

Passaggio

9/4/2011

Emergerò una domenica mattina
da questa carlinga di ferro
spostato il masso dei miei pensieri
cattive tensioni d'abitudine

e mi sono recato all'angolo indicato

la donna che mi ha consegnato l'involucro
mussolina di cotone,
bianchissimo,

si è congedata con un sorriso.
Dentro, pane giallo e caldo
con un sentore dell'est che cercavo.

E ho pensato che in occidente
così vicino alla metropoli
asfalto sotto e piombo sopra

il fagotto stretto al petto
era cosa bella.

Tu

1/4/2011

per stasera
perde l'abbrivio
la trottola
che regge
gli eventi
del mondo
e si produce in un inchino scomposto
kerosene il mio incenso
cielo il mio mare
un bacio la mia stella
pane e parole
pane, parole

e chi mi chiama ad esistere
ora si monda le mani
su di un vecchio strofinaccio

ed allinea la tovaglia con l'asse della terra
pane
tu
